A Service Celebrating the Appointment of Sarah Calvert

Rev. Dr. Sarah Calvert is the new District Superintendent of the Arlington District.  On Sunday, July 28, 2019, we gathered at Clarendon UMC to celebrate with Sarah.  Rev. Tracey Wines, Rev. Michelle Chaney, Rev. Jason Duley,  Mr. Gene Cross, Ms. Laura Chwastyk and Rev. Kyungsuk Cho all shared in a Welcoming Service. The Camp Highroad Choir and Mr. Frank Frazier led us in exciting music.  We took Communion together and all sang the up roaring hymn, “You Are Good.”

Sarah was told she was called to guard the faith, to seek unity, to exercise the Discipline of the Church, and to supervise and support the Church’s life, work and mission.  She affirmed her commitment and was welcomed as the new District superintendent of the Arlington District.

Sarah was the Church Revitalization on Church Development Director for the five years before this appointment.  Prior to that, she served as the Senior Pastor at Page UMC, and for six years before, she was the pastor at Galilee UMC.

Prior to this appointment, Sarah was a board member for the Virginia United Methodist Foundation and played a vital role on our Board.  We will miss her legal mind and enthusiasm as she begins this new phase in her life.

Rev. Dr. Sarah Calvert is an exciting, vibrant person and the people of the Arlington District are fortunate to have her as their new District Superintendent.
